June 26: Iceland!

Thanks to a super long layover in Iceland, got to spend the day in Reykjavík! My flight in got in at 6:40 am and my flight out is scheduled for 1:00 the next day, meaning that got the whole day to explore. The weather was kind of gross--drizzly and not quite warm enough--and I forgot to take my sweatshirt of of my bag before checking it. So that was regrettable. Otherwise I had a pretty good time walking around and seeing things. Funfact: Icelanders are into licorice. Their candy has licorice in it! I had a thing that was licorice with mint cream stuff. It was weird.
Anyway, here are some pictures! In reverse order!
I went through security a little (4 hours) early. Note how there are zero people here. With only my purse and no laptop, it was basically the best airport security experience ever.

Passed by this randomly gorgeous cemetery on my way back to the bus station.

This is a church- it's nice but ordinary. Nice place to sit for a bit.

These guys are having some fun

The view from the Pearl!

I kept losing my way to the Pearl until realized that it was probably this building that could see from anywhere. You know, because pearls.

Secret path to the Pearl. Turns out there are a lot of these because aqueducts.

I also went to the Iceland phallus museum! I, for one, was surprised by the length and... twistiness of some of their specimens.  There are pictures below. Brace yourself.

You would think this rail would be attached to something. Stairs, perhaps. You would be wrong.

Hilltop view!

Pretty!

This is another church! I really dig this architecture.

Dinosaur?

Rad ceiling, rad organ

Look! Ocean AND mountains! So novel!

On the flight over I got an emergency exit row to myself

Is it possible to have to much room?

Not pictured are the museum in which learned about the settling of Iceland and the rando Norwegian guy I met at the airport who was having a rough time and whom I bought a beer for.
